In 2005, the trio's musical talents paid off as they signed with Columbia Records. Passing up band name options like "Sons of Jonas", "Jonas Cubed", and "The Jonas Trio; Nick, Joe, and Kevin settled on The Jonas Brothers. This name sticks with them today, and naturally, the group doesn't plan on changing it in the future. Nearly a year later, The Jonas Brothers' released their first Album, It's About Time, in August 2006. Today, this album is featured as a collector's item.
Following the album, The Jonas Brothers were featured on MTV Total Request Live, for their music video 'Mandy' at number four. Soon after that, their music was featured in the Nickelodeon television film Zoey 101: Spring Break-Up. They remade and performed '(Yo Ho) A Pirate's Life For Me' for Disneymania 4, and were featured on Cartoon Network's Cartoon Cartoon Fridays program. They also began to reach the top of Radio Disney's Chart with their songs 'Year 3000', 'Mandy', and 'Poor Unfortunate Souls'. As if that weren't enough, the brother's were soon asked to record their own version of the Disney Channel Original Series American Dragon Jake Long theme song.
In the January of 2007, the band announced that they were no longer signed with Columbia Records. However, they later signed with Hollywood Records, Disney Channel's own musical arm. The boys were excited to take on the Disney Channel, and immediately began to working on their album. They recorded a few demos for songs they had written over the past year and a half, and soon those became the songs recorded for the album. Fields, along with Paul Jonas, worked with the band to polish their songs and decide which singles to feature, and then the boys went into the studio and laid down eleven tracks in just twenty one days. In addition to writing and singing all of the songs, they also played all the instruments. Kevin played lead guitar, Joe played guitar and keyboards, and Nick played keyboards, guitar, and drums.
As of 2008, The Jonas Brothers have gotten bigger than ever, opening for Disney Channel's Hannah Montana in concert on the Best Of Both Worlds Tour. Immediately following, the boys went on their own headlining tour, the When You Look Me In The Eyes Tour which soon led to the current touring of Avril Lavigne in Europe. In July of 2008, the boys are wrapped up with their second headlining tour, The Burning Up Tour. Not only is that a lot to handle, but the band also starred in the new Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock, which was released on June 20 of 2008, starring Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, with appearances by Nick and Kevin. Also airing on TV is the short reality series, Living The Dream, starring the Jonas Brothers as the show you their life on tour and on the road. In the future, the release of The Jonas Brother's own television show is scheduled starring the band and their little brother, Frankie Jonas, while co-starring Disney Channel's Chelsea Staub.
The Jonas Brother's have described their success in such a short amount of time as "unreal" and "pretty crazy". And these teenage heartthrobs don't look like they'll be slowing down any time soon.
"Kevin, Joe, and Nick are the real deal--incredible musicians, phenomenal performers, charismatic stars," Gary Marsh, president of entertainment for the Disney Channel Worldwide told E! Online. "An act like the Jonas Brothers doesn't come along very often. They're most definitely a giant coup for the Disney Channel."
With that said, you can definitely expect more from these teenagers in the nearby future.
